Our goal is to be the  #1 rural district where teachers want to work because they are valued and developed, are part of a dynamic team, have opportunities for leadership, and are making a difference every day in the their students’ ability to reach their potential.  We’re looking for people who are interested in working with diverse and high needs populations and are committed to closing the achievement gap.

There are three simple reasons I think you should consider a career in Montezuma-Cortez School District:

1) Our commitment to educator support and development - Our district is committed to ensuring all our teachers feel valued and respected as professionals and have the opportunity to grow professionally as teachers and leaders in our schools.  Each of our schools has multiple opportunities for teacher leadership and we provide a new teacher mentor for all our new teachers.

2) Our diverse, small-town community - We have a rich cultural heritage and our teachers have the privilege of serving diverse students and families including the Ute Mountain Ute and Navajo tribal communities.  Our community also has a rich agricultural heritage of local foods and a small town experience with community events and celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and a chance to really know your neighbors.

3) Our natural beauty and outdoor adventures -  We are one of the most affordable outdoor recreation destinations in the State of Colorado.  We are located close to Telluride, Durango, Moab Utah and many national parks including Mesa Verde National Park.
